We all need a reminder every now and then. Being grateful and truly living a life of gratitude takes time and practice. How many days have gone by and we really haven’t expressed our gratitude to God, a loved one, a clerk at the store, our neighbor, or the countless other people that we encounter on a daily basis?

Needing a reminder to be grateful is not a bad thing. As we continue to add more gratitude to our days, it will become more and more natural and a routine part of our day. Living a life of gratitude allows us to enjoy life more fully and have a deeper meaning in all that we do.

Keeping a small rock or a short string of beads in your pocket or purse can be a perfect reminder for some. Each time you reach in your purse or your pocket and you feel that stone or those beads, take a few moments and think about a couple things that you are grateful for at that moment. It could be a phone call from a friend, or a smile from a stranger on the street.

If you are more of a list person, the gratitude journal or list is another great way to help us really think about all that we have. Or how about using those moments sitting at a stop light…. instead of being upset about getting the red light, use that time for good!
